The Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge is one of only four urban wildlife refuges in the United States. It is a greenbelt of large marsh areas bordered by grain terminals, highways, residential areas, office buildings, and farm fields. Stretching along the Minnesota River from the Fort Snelling area to Jordan, the refuge includes eight different units:
(1) Black Dog Unit,
(2) Bloomington Ferry Unit,
(3) Chaska Unit,
(4) Long Meadow Lake Unit:   Bloomington Visitor Center,
(5) Louisville Swamp Unit,
(6) Wilkie Unit.
(7) Rapids Lake Unit:   Rapids Lake Visitor Center,
(8) Upgrala Unit,
