Also known as Fisherville, over 5000 miners, all seeking their fortunes, rushed into the area in 1864 founding this boomtown near the Wild Horse River.
Today an interpretive trail, along with the remains of the Chinese burial grounds, the Wild Horse cemetery, the dry hollow of the Victoria Ditch, the remaining fruit trees from the first planted orchard in the East Kootenay and the visible scars from the hydraulic mining invite you to experience a glimpse of a not to long ago past.

Take your own hand pan, hand shovel and metal detector with you. Gold panning this way is allowed in this recreational panning reserve by the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
