The Stikine, meaning ‘The Great River’ in the Tlingit language, covers a diverse range of climates and geography from alpine tundra to ancient coastal rainforests. John Muir described part of the Stikine as a "Yosemite 100 miles long." It is 52,000 square kilometers/20,000 square miles, making it larger than Switzerland. The Stikine Valley is home to Canada's Grand Canyon and the heartland of the Tahltan First Nation culture. Learn more about the Tahltan First Nation on the Tahltan Band Council and Tahltan Central Council website.
