Ski touring is one of the many activities the park has to offer, but only skiers with knowledge of travel in avalanche terrain are welcome.
Glacier National Park provides just a few easy hikes and a good number of difficult ones. A special hike leads into the Nakimu Caves , but you need a Parks permission to enter the Caves.
Once Glacier House was the perfect base for exploring the backcountry, but even today mountaineering is a major park attraction.
For a full description of all the hikes, numbered below as a Reference point, see the Hiking in Glacier NP Map and Brochure or the Hiking section of the Parks website.
Start your visit at the Parks Visitor Information Centre Rogers Pass Discovery Centre.
